Outsourced Telecom Manager
TMC consultants work with some clients as part time Telecommunications Managers.
A TMC Telecommunications Manager can perform some or all of the following tasks on an ad hoc or scheduled basis:
- Invoice audit – verify that the services exist, that existing services are required and that the prices match the contract
- Invoice administration – verify that the pricing is correct and investigate any billing abnormalities or extra charges
- Reviewing work requests against approved policy and flagging exceptions to client
- Management of mini-projects, such as a software upgrade
- Request and review traffic reports
- Request and review call centre reports
- Review error logs
- Perform an assessment of staff needs
- Write job description for telecom and call-centre staff, assist with interviewing
- Manage major projects such as acquiring and provisioning a new location
- Contract management – monitor SLA performance; prior to contract expiration, determine whether contract should be renewed, renegotiated or replaced through competitive bidding
- Manage competitive bidding – prepare RFP including SLAs and Ts & Cs, respond to bidder questions during bidding,
issue addenda as required, request clarification, assess responses, organize bidder presentations, develop recommendation,
negotiate contract, develop implementation project plan including schedule, chair project meetings and update action register,
provide opinion on suggested changes (up-sales) by vendor, supervise installation, training and cutover,
manage change order request process, verify invoices and perform systems acceptance.
- Oversee and audit telecommunications outsourcing where it exists
- Prepare telecommunications status reports and recommendations for change
- Prepare annual budget requirements
